This year, three EOC students (Grace, Sebi, and Stella) participated in a cohort of students and staff to create criteria for certifying schools as Student Centered. The students met with students from other schools similar to EOC in their student-centered philosophy. As student Grace said, "it was interesting that the other students came from totally different schools, yet we all were under the same student centered umbrella." In these conversations, EOC students found that they have diverse experiences and several ways to incorporate student voice. Sebi noted that it was "cool that people wanted student feedback in this process" and was happy with the student survey the group co-designed. The participation in this cohort of students also led to a presentation that Stella did with a group of educators attending a conference called "The Stories we Carry and the Futures we Create." Overall the students thought this was a great experience and they loved meeting new students and creating a tool schools will find useful in the future.
