While our nation seems increasingly more divided and divisive as tensions escalate in Minneapolis and across the state, we wanted to take a moment to re-emphasize that at Edvisions Off Campus we stand firmly united around the basic principles that make up our mission statement: that personalized, student centered learning gives our students the tools they need to become adults who can achieve their goals, explore their passions and find their own unique place in this complex and beautiful world.
Above all, the “personalized” and “student centered” elements of this mission mean ensuring that Edvisions Off Campus remains a place where students feel seen, heard, and cared for; a place where every student can feel like they belong no matter who they are, where they are coming from, what their beliefs might be, or what road led them here.
At Edvisions Off Campus, we are committed to:
Putting the safety and emotional well-being of our students is a priority, including maintaining student privacy as well as offering a variety of emotional supports through one-on-one meetings with advisors, optional group meetings dedicated to sharing and processing in the wake of tragic events, and the ongoing receptivity and responsiveness of our highly trained and experienced staff and school counselor.
Treating students with the humanity and dignity they deserve and operating under the basic assumption that humanity and civility come first in all matters.
Continuing to provide each student with robust, passion driven, project based, student centered learning opportunities.
Maintaining compassion, open-mindedness and flexibility as staff for students to respond to recent events as needed, and process in their own ways and their own time.
Meeting every student exactly where they are at - academically, mentally, socially and emotionally.
With these commitments in mind, our staff will continue to hold space for students to process and connect throughout the school year and beyond. We will continue to check in with each student regularly, offer our support and provide resources to students and families as they are needed (just ask your advisor and they will get you connected!). We will seek to provide an inclusive environment for all learners in the hopes that our school is and will continue to be a place of refuge - a place of belonging - for all students.
